Re: industry beef. Why haven't labels gotten wise to the internet's ability to leak material for free that could otherwise be marketed for profit?
My friend (and former bandmate ever-so-briefly) Erik Carter has a new collab website called Type/Code. Erik says:
Type/Code is a collective of similar-minded, emerging designers, developers, and artists that came together after a series of collaborations while studying at Parsons School of Design in New York City. Each member holds their own set of specialities and interests ranging from custom lettering and graphics, to creating compelling experiences, all the way to writing efficient server code. As a group we work to realize the possibilities created by the seamless integration of technology and design.
Really enjoying the posts so far (amen, re: coffee cup lid design).
Also, an immense source of enjoyment over the last 24 hrs.
And finally, gotta say lately I've been wondering if I feel the same way about this site as Zirafa does about Midnight Parking. All logic tells me to shut this thing down.
didn't make it to that show on Fri b/c i was tired. trying to catch things here and there, and listen to stuff as it comes my way, but right now there's a lot going on and it might be kinda quiet in this space for a while. bear with. thnx.
1) Checkin' out Endless Boogie tonight. per word of mouth: blues + krautrock.
2) Just noticed another Cville/Pitchfork intersection, i.e. another wonderful Andrew Cedermark song (from a split single w/Drunk Tigers). LISTENS.
3) Greenleaf: Greenberry Hill. Slowly immersing, enjoying massively.
4) There are a bunch of great "I Love..." music blogs (e.g. the I Love Rap blog by Dave or the I Love Chip Music blog by Asif) and now Zirafarsheed has created an I Love Listening tumblr page that auto-updates from all of them.
5) Finally tracked down "Knight of the Garter". Got interviewed for an updated version of it recently by G. Canino. Cryptic but not frustrating, as J. Ruscher says, which is probably the best way to sum up the DBB sonic-social phenomenon.
