Zirafa

Trek.

The move to NYC is imminent, I'll be up there by this Tuesday. New chapter and all that; I'm excited.

In the meantime, just noticed a theta blast from the past on the internets. Enjoy!

From Boston

Still traveling around on the interview trail, living out of a suitcase, rarely in a city for longer than 3 days at a time. However, been in Boston for a few (cold) days already and will be here until the middle of next week. Hence, actually have a little time to occasionally read the news and even post up here. Which brings me to the following:

1) Dave (shoutout to Olde English) has put up a really thoughtful, expansive year-end list at his music blog, Migrating Taste. Not only does he listen to a ton of music, but Dave also has a really reliable ear. And you can download samples of his huge range of rock, hip-hop, jazz, R&B, electronic, etc. via the same post.

2) Zirafa's got a new Jazzanova remix up at Midnight Parking. Head over there for the new remix and to snag his earlier Public Enemy remix as well.

ZIRAFA - HIPSHOOTER EP

Totally unannounced, total surprise, totally awesome. Straight outta Popperton University:

Zirafa presents Hipshooter EP.

Zirafa = the musical moniker of Farsheed Hamidi-Toosi, who is a dear friend and easily one of the best musicians I've ever known. Over the years I've learned tons about drumming, composition, and music software from hanging out and occasionally collaborating. He was one of the four remixers who worked on Audiozine Volume 01.

Per Farsheed, re: Hipshooter: "Hipshooter was inspired by dancing, blips and bleeps, old cowboy movies, lasers, free jazz, forgotten technologies, and bagel sandwiches. It's a listen-from-the-hips type of record (a first for me). So turn it up and make your ears into mush!"
