Stockhausen Serves Imperialism

Stockhausen Serves Imperialism

Hey folks.  Some of you may know that I am one half of the band Doubting Thomas.  This Saturday, however, I'll be joining Mark Thyrring (ex-Cloeburner), Andy Jenkins (The Great White Jenkins), Henry Randolph, and Will Bass for a performance under the name "Stockhausen Serves Imperialism".  We'll be opening for Northern Valentine and Graboids.  Details below:

Saturday, September 16

Stockhausen Serves Imperialism
@ Minor Hall, 9:30 pm, $5

STOCKHAUSEN SERVES IMPERIALISM is the title of an essay by Cornelius
Cardew. It also signals the reunification of some of the original
members of CLOEBURNER and an epic collaboration of sound and
philosophies. Their set will break both your heart and your glasses.

NORTHERN VALENTINE is a Pennsylvania based collective of musicians,
artists and noisemakers, held together by husband and wife, Robert and
Amy Brown and their friend Matt Primak.

The music of Northern Valentine is built around simple progressions,
themes, stories, conversations, scraps of sound and samples, or
spontaneous moments that happen while playing music with each other.
They have been writing and recording music since 1997 and have
collaborated with a number of different musicians along their path as
Northern Valentine.

GRABOIDS a.k.a. Andrew Glover, Matthew Watson, and Stuart Watson have
been playing together in Charlottesville since 2002. The band would
lock themselves away for hours and create ambient noise, tones,
drones, and anything they could manage to come out of an amplifier's
speaker. Delay and distortion pedals were never to be found too far
away during these sessions. They've recorded 3 EPs and played up and
down the mid-Atlantic region. Graboids values the live setting as the
true place of inspiration.
