Beck

Modern Guilt

Trying to get back into the habit of posting here, since I've been out of sight for a while. Besides, grappling with some insomnia this week that started with one bad night's sleep and then threw my whole schedule off.

Neglected to mention that I published my first freelance review for the C-Ville Weekly not long ago -- Beck's Modern Guilt. I enjoyed the album quite a bit, although I've been listening mostly to Jens Lekman, Ragga Twins, and Steinski lately.

DangerBeck

I get excited when I read things that say stuff like "Danger Mouse is producing the next Beck album".

Also, who would've known that Danger Mouse was friends with the Elephant 6 musicians?

Up For Air

In the midst of exam time, but quick post:

Check out this video of Black Tie Elephant, a band started in Illinois by my friend and musical co-conspirator Farsheed Hamidi-Toosi.  He's the drummer -- and yes he's playing a typewriter at the beginning and then switches to keys AND drums simultaneously.  You should also stop by his website, Midnight Parking.

Lately, I've been thoroughly enjoying the new Tortoise box set, A Lazarus Taxon.  The new Beck album is nice too.  And holy smokes guess what just shipped a day or two ago from Amazon.com?!?!?!?!  Props to Andy for being the one to tell me about it.

Ok, back to the grind.  Expect something, anything when I resurface in late October...
