Spinnerty

Drinking Coffee in Williamsburg on a Sunny Day

Farsheed beats me to the punch again, but I'll reiterate here:
1) Check out Grown Kids Radio, which is Spinnerty and a whole slew of other incredible Bay Area DJs laying down a really wide variety of beat-based music. When I get back to VA and have my iPod handy I'm definitely gonna load up their podcasts and become a compulsive listener.

2) New Orange Drink tracks on a weekly basis. Press play sucka!

Otherwise, still in NYC and since Wednesday I have seen the following: Ratatat, Jandek, a few chiptunes associated cats (including some French cat whose moniker translates roughly to "I Became A DJ 3 Days Ago" or something), Invisible Hand(s)...and I remain effectively homeless in this city. It's an adventure. I'll fill y'all in on these and other events when I get a bit more time. Enjoying my time up here but def looking forward to returning to Cville and riding out my last days there.

San York

Over two hours of mixology taking you from San Francisco in the morning to New York City at night -- the incomparable D-Lo and Spinnerty strike again.

You owe it to yrself to peep Spinnerty's recent output, including the Keep Reachin' Up mix CD, his set on KUSF, and the Making Babies 2 mix. I'll have to catch up on all this stuff in about a week when I'm a free man.

Insomnia Strikes!

Hey folks, a few updates:

1) Music Biz Politics in Cville

2) Spinnerty has a new mix CD called "I Feel An Urge". It's a collection of rare funk. He also lists his favorite tracks from 2006 and mentions other musical highlights of the year. Unbelievably, his experience remixing for the Audiozine somehow ends up on the same list as seeing Ahmad Jamal live. Peep samples of his new mix CD and other goodies here.

3) The new Deerhoof album "Friend Opportunity" is in heavy rotation on my iPod. Really heavy rotation.
